What Convinces Me To Get Vaccinated
I was taught that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, especially related to illness. So whenever I felt ill, I knew my immune system was getting stronger. And in a certain sense, that is true, but that's not the whole story.
In the process of fighting off an illness, your body accumulates damage. Sometimes, that damage is noticeable or deadly, but a lot of the time, the damage is not noticeable, but it is measurable. Any region, such as the heart, lungs, or liver, that the pathogen attacks might be left in a poorer condition after recovery.
When you recover from an illness, your body is not left as it once was. Your body has likely deteriorated. An older person might not feel like they used to because they have accumulated damage from a lifetime of illnesses.
Vaccines give you the benefit of immunity without the danger or wear and tear on your body. It's not just about protecting yourself from death it's about protecting your organs from damage.
